New Wrinkles -- What "Boomers" Means. . .
We four Boomers travelled to many places
together over the past 25 years-- across the US and Joanne, Chuck and I even
spent time in Italy! Typically, we economize by sharing meals and rooms.
We have learned to read each other’s signals--the need for space,
together-time, couple-time, friend time, etc. We've laughed, cried,
grumbled, snapped, sang, hiked, got lost, worshiped and prayed
together. This trip has brought some new wrinkles -
Chronologically our ages are scattered across the baby boomer generation.
Pay attention Gen X'ers, Millennials, and even you Silent ones of
Gen Z! Where we are means something.
That something goes well beyond the inevitable stiffening joints, the ‘what
was I saying’ brain fog, or our individual and collective limitations. Our
etched-in smile lines and laughter induced crows’ feet also mean that we are being
called upon to expand our collective capacity for compassion, tolerance and
grace in new ways.
So, following our days in Yellowstone, we spent a peaceful evening
sitting at the kitchen table in our RV.
We were in a beautiful Missoula RV Park enjoying a pasta supper and salad.
We sipped wine and reflected, repented
the grouchy moments induced by the difficult launch out of California and reacquainted
our collective selves with the blessings of friendship -- we laughed, we cried,
and we thanked our God who brought us together again for yet another
adventure.
- VIDEO CHALLENGES: so sorry that the last video was abruptly cut off. Here is the repost: The actual video is about 9 minutes. Here is the YouTube Link:
- HOMELESS: as of 3:30 PM Pacific time today our fantastic realtor Greg Hales gave us the news that the deal closed! We are technically homeless, who-hoo!
- UP NEXT: Photos from Yellowstone and our current visit with Mary and Dave Dixon in Lakeside, MT.
Congratulations on the house closing. I remember I experienced something similar when moving west by car all those years ago. I was in Elko,NV when I called to confirm the house had closed. It was a great feeling. It looks like you're making steady progress and that's wonderful. Can't wait to hear about and see images from Yellowstone. Enjoy it all!
ReplyDeleteElaine, Thanks. . . so good to have that closed . . . already had one notice from CAL Fire that the evacuation warning was lifted. . . sigh! Working on the Yellowstone photos/vid.
